Promoting vitality and growth in mission-driven organizations
Team Development
Team Development helps work groups boost performance through a comprehensive process that incorporates assessment, priority setting, clarifying roles and accountabilities, and negotiating expectations. Increasingly mission-driven organizations are challenged to work collaboratively across divisional or functional areas within their organization as well as with external partners. Strategies for Change works with newly formed and existing groups to forge clarity about their purpose and the processes through which they will realize their success.

The Process
An initial assessment allows group members, leaders and other partners to identify and analyze strengths and specific challenges in their business or group dynamics. Depending upon the climate and circumstances, this assessment may take place through individual interviews or in facilitated group conversations. Based upon the outcome of this assessment and an understanding of group development tasks, the consultant will design and facilitate a process to address the group’s needs. Some of the outcomes achieved through team coaching include:
  • Crossing organizational boundaries (silos and bureaucracies) to respond quickly and effectively to client or community needs.
  • Coordinating the efforts of work groups and the organization as a whole.
  • Negotiating competing priorities and values to forge strong, aligned, relationships among organizational partners.
  • Bringing together needed expertise and specialized knowledge to do something that hasn’t been done before.

We created new networks between people who work in the field. I believe that the methodology [used by Strategies for Change] allowed us to identify common ground and to create consensus as we looked towards the future and developed a plan and guidelines for working together.
